Did Jesus Teach Unconditional Election? No

Let's look once again at Jesus own words and see if he taught of believed that eternal life or eternal destruction was determined by some unconditional random decision in the past rather than conditional and based on Faith\Belief, or in the case of those that reject him and do not trust on the condition of unbelief that they so chose.

Jesus makes this very simple. The conditionality is very very clear! Whoever believes recieves eternal life.

John 3:14-15

14 As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.

Jesus builds even further with an explanation as to WHY! Because for God so Loved the World. And we also have how and that is that God sent his that the world might be saved through him.

John 3:16-17

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

Next in verse 18 we see some very powerful events occur, for once again we see a fully conditional outcome of those who do not believe for they are judged already? This is predestination that can only occur through Gods Omnescience and Foreknowledge, and the judgement is fully conditional based on their unbelief in the Name of Jesus!

John 3:18-21
18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

These very clear teachings of Jesus detail outcomes of eternal life or judgement based on the decision of man to be faithful\believe or to be faithlessness\unbelief . These are fully conditional outcomes that also reveal clearly that God has predetermined the outcome based on his Foreknowledge and Omniscience.
